This remembrance of Elizabeth has been compiled by her colleagues and friends in the Institute Communications office at Georgia Tech.
Following a brief illness, our beloved friend and colleague, Elizabeth Campell, died at her Atlanta home. A loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Elizabeth will be remembered for her optimistic and sunny disposition, her keen intellect and unfailing curiosity, her hysterically dry sense of humor, and especially her warmth and kindness toward everyone she knew.
After graduating from Duke University with a degree in political science, Elizabeth initially joined the Georgia Tech family in 1989, serving as the staff assistant in the former Office of Publications. Elizabeth’s desire for new professional challenges led her to leave Tech after five years to pursue a master’s degree in public relations at the University of Georgia. After completing her master’s, she worked for two years at the Rountree Group, a well known Atlanta advertising and public relations agency. In 1998, Elizabeth returned to her Tech family as a media relations representative, and in 2007 transitioned into the newly created role of client manager.
With nearly 20 years of service at Georgia Tech, Elizabeth was very well known and loved throughout the campus. She worked with nearly all of the academic and administrative units at one time or another, and she was renowned for her positive attitude and “can-do” approach to helping her clients and colleagues. Elizabeth’s loss is felt across the entire campus, and we will always remember her dedication to the Institute and to her colleagues.
Our thoughts are with Elizabeth’s husband, Kevin, their 10-year-old son, Mitchell, and her entire family.
