Police Make Arrest in January Scheller Incident

With the help of the MARTA Police Department, Atlanta Police Department, the FBI's Violent Crime Task Force, and Crime Stoppers, the Georgia Tech Police Department (GTPD) arrested and charged Quevos Talley on March 9 for two on-campus criminal incidents.

Talley was charged with the armed robbery that took place Jan. 5 in the Scheller College of Business. A Clery Act Safety Alert was sent to campus following the incident. He also was charged with the theft of two laptops on Dec. 1, 2014, also in the Scheller College of Business. 

Talley’s full charges include two counts of burglary, one count of armed robbery, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one count of false imprisonment, and one count of possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.

“This was a great example of collaboration with multiple agencies to affect an arrest,” said Rob Connolly, chief of GTPD.

Since the incident in January at Scheller, GTPD has conducted a physical security assessment of the building and improved security in and around the area. BuzzCards are now needed to access all doors except the main entrance on West Peachtree Street, and a security person is staffed at the front desk in the evenings.

GTPD continues to encourage students, faculty, and staff to call GTPD at 404-894-2500 if they see any suspicious activity on campus.
