Georgia Tech's International Football Clinic Set for April 16

April 9, 2015

THE FLATS — More than 100 Georgia Tech students originally from countries unfamiliar with American football will have an opportunity to learn the basics of the game and Yellow Jackets football history. Head coach Paul Johnson and his players will host its third annual International Football Clinic on Thursday, April 16.

Georgia Tech’s International Football Clinic is scheduled for 4-6 p.m. and is sponsored by the Tech’s Student Government Association. It will open with a welcome and Football 101 presentation from Coach Johnson, followed by a tour of the equipment room and locker room.

Afterwards, the students will have the opportunity to run through the tunnel on to Grant Field behind the Rambling Wreck.

Students will rotate between eight, three-minute on-field stations and to go through drills supervised by Georgia Tech coaches and student-athletes. Following the clinic, students will enjoy a barbeque and social with the student-athletes and coaches.

The clinic is only for international students. Free registration began in mid-March and reached capacity in less than two weeks.

More than 4,800 Georgia Tech students, including 1,500 undergraduate students, originate from outside the United States.

Georgia Tech’s 2015 Spring Game will be held Friday, April 17, at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Parking opens at 5 p.m., Wreckfest at 5:30 p.m., gates at 6 p.m., and kickoff at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
