The Week Ahead: April 24–30

The spring semester is coming to a close. Monday and Tuesday are the final instructional class days, Wednesday is a reading period, and Thursday marks the start of exams. 

Good luck on finals, Jackets. Remember to take a study break, get some rest, and stay fueled with water and nuritious snacks and meals. 

Monday, April 24

• What: Meditation Club Meeting
• When: 6:30–7:30 p.m.
• Where: Room 123, Clough Commons

Finals can put a lot of stress on students. In the midst of studying, it is important to take time to re-center and focus on personal well-being. Attend this meeting to practice and learn more about meditation. The meeting includes 15-30 minutes of meditation followed by a guided discussion and is open to all students.  

Tuesday, April 25        

• What: Capstone Design Expo
• Where: McCamish Pavilion
• When: 4:30–8 p.m.

Stop by the Capstone Design Expo to gain some inspiration before heading into finals. The Expo is one of the largest student design expos in the U.S. and showcases Georgia Tech’s graduating seniors. More than 1,000 students from 11 different schools and majors will showcase their creative solutions to real-world challenges.

Wednesday, April 26

• What: Yoga on the Lawn
• When: 11 a.m. – Noon
• Where: Instructional Center Lawn

Join the Georgia Tech Counseling Center and Health Promotion for a yoga class on the Lawn. The free class will allow participants to re-focus, re-energize, and de-stress before finals.

• What: Reading Day Special
• When: 8–10 p.m.
• Where: Tech Rec, Student Center

Take a study break to enjoy free bowling, billiards, gaming, and more. There will also be free food and giveaways.

Thursday, April 27

• What: Paper and Clay Sewing Class
• When: 4–6 p.m.
• Where: Paper and Clay,  Student Center

Take your mind off finals with a hands-on activity, where you'll make a circle skirt and learn the basics of quilting and sewing. The class is $35 for students and includes all materials. Sign up by calling 404-894-2827 or visiting the studio on the third floor of the Student Center.

• When: April 27 – May 4
• Where: Campus Recreation Center

All classes are free of charge for CRC members during final exams. BuzzCard is required for class entry.

Friday, April 28

• What: School of Architecture End of Year Awards and Exhibition
• When: 3–7 p.m.
• Where: Hinman Research Building

Celebrate the end of the semester with students from the School of Architecture. The event includes an opening reception followed by the school's biggest exhibition of the year showcasing the work of talented Tech students. Register here. Refreshments provided.

Saturday, April 29

• What: Girls on the Run 5K
• Where: Georgia Tech
• When: 7 a.m.

Release some endorphins and relieve stress at the Girls on the Run 5K, starting at the Instructional Center Lawn. This public 5K is held to celebrate the accomplishments of Girls on the Run, an organization that inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them unique. Registration is $25 and includes a finisher’s T-shirt. Register here.

• When: 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Georgia Tech takes on a different team of Bulldogs from Samford University in a doubleheader this weekend. Attendance is free with BuzzCard.
